Josh & the Jamtones

Disclaimer: I received the CD: Bear Hunt for review. No other compensation was received and all opinions are 100% mine.

Josh & the Jamtones, a local Boston based kindie rock band have been entertaining kids and their families with their interactive dance party shows, guaranteed to get us all singing and shaking, clapping and stomping. They have played some of our big local spots including the Life is Good Festival, Boston's Earthfest and Fenway Park to name a few. Their latest CD: Bear Hunt, set to release October 1st, offers reggae, ska, folk and a bit of pop to the family music scene.

The six member band, mostly all School of Berklee Alums, have only been performing since 2011. Their song Iko Iko from their debut CD Jump Up landed #1 spot on Sirius/XM's Kids Place Live chart. They have opened up for The Wiggles and are returning to the Life is Good Festival coming up September 21 & 22. Their music is geared towards 2-10 year-olds and parents of all ages!

The Jamtones are fronted by songwriter Josh Shriber and drummer/producer Patrick Hanlin. “Our goal with the Jamtones is to create a unique live music experience that parents can enjoy together with their kids,” says Shriber, owner of the popular JAMMIN WITH YOU! music school and performance center.

Bear Hunt Review: This was my first introduction to Josh & the Jamtones and although I was not expecting talking in between songs, (Known as Bear Hunt Skits) when the music was playing, I was moving. I really enjoyed the fast upbeat ska rhythms of the title track: Bear Hunt and Everybody Dance is a fun mix of reggae and ska that will get you moving for sure! There are a few easy-going soft pretty songs thrown in as well! A total of 14 songs. Click here to pre-order.
