January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month and I am helping to spread awareness of this heinous reality as well as gratitude to the people who help rescue, recover and heal the victims who can be so easily taken!

The numbers of human trafficking is horrendous and the new movie: Trafficked is a dramatic feature film about the devastating reality of human trafficking in our own backyards. It is not a subject most parents like to bring up but this gritty film is done well enough to share with older teenagers who need to know this important message!

Trafficked will be released on home entertainment today, January 26th, and with only a few swear words and not too graphic scenes, it is a great starting point for open conversation about this devasting subject.

The movie features Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark, God's Not Dead), Mark Boyd (Whip It, 12 Monkeys) and Sophie Bolen (The Horse Dancer, Rodeo Girl), who all play strong characters to help get this message across.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:

Trafficked is the story of Allison Riley, (Sophie Bolen) a beautiful young girl with a bright future and a dream of becoming a veterinarian. On the eve of her 16th birthday, she sneaks out of her house to meet a handsome boy she met online, and disappears. Her parents Joanna (Kristy Swanson) and Case (Mark Boyd) contact the police who assume that Allison is just out with a boyfriend. They reluctantly hire Private Investigator John Belton (Dean Cain) who has a reputation for making his own rules. Belton quickly discovers that Allison had likely been trafficked by a handsome young man she met online, and that he’s on a race against time if the Riley’s hope to see their daughter again.
