Disclosure: Post sponsored by Camp Warner Bros. All opinions are my own.

This week we are taking on the best kind of science with edible DIY crystal gems to celebrate Steven Universe: The Movie. Steven Universe is a popular show on Cartoon Network with warriors known as The Crystal Gems; Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven—a young protect the universe from evil while sending messages of kindness and inclusiveness and now its a movie! A musical sing-a-long movie!

Fun Fact: Steven Universe was Cartoon Network's first animated series to be created soley by a woman.

To enjoy this movie we first took on a science challenge to make our own magic gems and you can too!

Here's what you need:

The Science Behind The Fun:

As time passes and the solution cools, the water will slowly evaporate from the solution. As the water evaporates, the solution will become more saturated with sugar. The sugar molecules will collect on the string, and the candy crystals will grow molecule by molecule!

We made two jars of candy. In the first jar, we wet the string and dipped it in sugar first. In the second jar we did not.

It was fun to do with my daughter, she loved adding the food coloring... we are patiently awaiting the results.

About Steven Universe: The Movie:

"After so many harrowing adventures, Steven and the Gems are ready to celebrate how far they’ve come with a movie musical! Little do they know they’re about to face their worst enemy yet."

We were so surprised to learn this movie is a musical sing-a-long. If you like musicals, you will love this movie. Steven is 16 now and continues to rely on the gems for love and understanding while learning important values. A heartwarming story, even with the mean villian, with lots and lots of songs!!

Steven Universe: The Movie is now available to own on Digital, Blu-ray & DVD. Find it on amazon
