Disclaimer: I received the CD mentioned below for review. No other compensation was received and all opinions are 100% mine.

My ears have really been opened lately to a new musical genre for me: The family friendly genre and it is superb. This genre is so creative, sometimes even educational and most definitely a whole lot of FUN! I have recently been enjoying a new CD by Recess Monkey called: Desert Island Disc, their 10th CD to date. These three once teachers turned musicians have been jamming together for many years and high praises follow them everywhere from everyone!

Originally from Seattle, WA, Recess Monkey are known for high-energy live shows and laugh out loud lyrics, they make fun singable and danceable music for kids of all ages. Desert Island Disc is the calmer second act of Recess Monkey's 2013 CD: Deep Sea Diver; conceived as a companion and counterpart to Deep Sea Diver, yet experimental for the band. Desert Island Disc has 14 easy-going, island type songs, which is quite coincidental since all songs were written and recorded on a distant island, (possibly Bainbridge Island) with "impromptu instruments, gorgeous orchestrations and the gentle sounds of waves lapping on the beach." A perfect CD any time of day for any occasion.

Guest artists on this CD include Justin Lansing of the Grammy winning Okee Dokee Brothers (banjo), Dean Jones of Dog on Fleas (vocals), and Johnny Bregar (B3 organ). Desert Island Disc is set to release October 15. For more information and to pre order today, please visit: http://www.recessmonkey.com.

Currently on tour, Recess Monkey will be locally at Canton's Life is Good Festival, Septemeber 21 and 22.
