So slip on the flip flops, stir up some of these cool refreshing drinks step out on the veranda and enjoy! This perfect for summertime sangria is light and refreshing. What you'll need:
3 oranges 1 lemon 1 lime 2/3 cup of white sugar 1/2 liter of ginger ale Slice two of the oranges into wedges. Slice the other into thin slices. With the lemon cut half into wedges, half into thin slices. Do the same with the lime. Pour the wine into a pitcher. Squeeze in the citrus juices then toss in the fruit. Try to limit the seeds if you can. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Let the mixture chill overnight. Before serving add in the ginger ale. If you like you can add other fruits like berries or peaches. Nothing says summer in the south quite like iced tea and Georgia peaches. Try this recipe that combines the two. What you'll need:
In a Collins glass, add ice, and then pour in the vodka, gin and rum. Fill the glass almost full with sweet and sour mix. Then pour peach schnapps on top. Sure it's a frou-frou looking drink. But, best of all there are no additives like artificial coloring, chemicals or preservatives. And no high fructose corn syrup. What you'll need:
Mash the strawberries and spoon them into the bottom of your glass. Blend the remaining ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour the pineapple mix over the strawberries. Garnish with a strawberry or slice of pineapple. What you'll need:
For the rim of your glass:
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the tequila, schnapps, peach nectar and lime juice. Shake for about 1015 seconds. Serve in a glass rimmed with the lime sugar. For the lime-sugar combine the sugar and lime zest on a plate. Use the remaining lime you have juiced to moisten the rim of your glass, and then rub the rim of the glass in the lime-sugar. What you’ll need:
Wash and halve the strawberries. Or cut them in quarters if they are large. Put the strawberries in a quart glass jar that will hold both the vodka and the berries. Pour in the vodka and tighten the lid. Shake the jar, and then place it in a cool, dark place for three to seven days, giving it a good shake every day. When you're ready, strain them mixture through cheesecloth or a coffee filter. You can store this in the refrigerator or freezer for several weeks. You may have your own lemonade recipe, but here's a basic one that works well. What you'll need:
In a small saucepan, stir together the sugar and one cup of water. Bring to a boil and make sure the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it boil for about a minute before removing from the heat. Allow this to cool then combine the syrup with the lemon juice and 2 cups of water. Add more water to taste if you need to. This makes about a quart. To serve pour lemonade into a glass over ice. Add one or two ounces of strawberry vodka. While summer is a carefree time, always remember to drink responsibly and bring along a designated driver.
