ENDED - Bash and the Pirate Pig Book GiveawaySeptember 13, 2013Disclaimer: I received this book complimentary for review purposes. All opinions are my own. Bash and the Pirate Pig, by Burton Cole, is a story about a cranky city kid named Raymond "Beamer" Boxby who has to spend his summer vacation with his younger cousin Bash out in the country on his farm. Beamer is not too happy about this as he prefers to play video games all day inside where it is cool. He can't see what good can come of this so-called country fun that includes riding cows, river rafting with a pig, or playing with skunks. But hang tight, Beamer, because Bash’s zany adventures with his "Fishin' and Farmin' book" (The Bible) just might lead to the coolest Discovery of all. This book is a little old for my two children, but they showed interest, so I read to them, a little at a time since it is over 200 pages. I was grateful for this considering the amount of times the word stupid was mentioned, which I easily skipped over. Since the book is geared toward boys ages 8-14, I can see why they might enjoy a book that mentions this word, but it is a bad one in our household. Apart from that, the story line was funny with mischievous Bash showing his cousin Beamer all sorts of fun on the farm. Never a dull moment, with good solid lessons to learn about family and friends and making wise choices!
