I think it is a great thing for parents to start with small children and reading a story a day is beneficial in so many ways. Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of the Jesse Tree Tradition is a book offering the tradition of reading a story a night, beginning December 1st through the 24th. This tradition starts with a small tree, and after reading a short story each night, an ornament is placed on the tree (ornaments are provided at the back of the book - just need to add ribbon or string), these ornaments are a reminder of the biblical figures in the 24 stories throughout the book, starting with Adam and Eve and ending with Jesus. Night by night, children learn that Jesus had a family, just like they do, and that each family member influences the entire family.
